"Be a he(a)ro" Workshop

Be a he(a)ro is a new initiative created by our large ensemble Boho Strings, LQ consulting and the Centre for Prevention of Suicide (Centrum ter Preventie van Zelfdoding). Be a he(a)ro wants to create more awareness around suicide prevention. We do this in the form of workshops, concerts, keynotes – all offering tools for people to recognize the early indicators when someone is struggling mentally, or has suicidal thoughts.

The Be a he(a)ro workshop is part of the first steps towards this goal. With this event we will try to open up participants’ eyes and ears, and break through the taboos surrounding suicide.

SOUTHAMPTON STRINGS FESTIVAL

18TH ANNUAL STRINGS FESTIVAL

Under the direction of Jessica Tortorice and BiSS Quartet

At Southampton Strings Festival, we give students (violinists, violists, cellists, bassists, and chamber ensembles) the opportunity to intensively study classical repertoire and skills in a hands-on, fun, and creative way. Our goal is to broaden the scope of your children’s musical knowledge and appreciation. Our international group of coaches have a passion for inspiring students to learn and discover. Year after year, our students are amazed by how much they learn in such a short period of time – and more importantly, how much fun they have doing it. We hope that you will join us and experience what Southampton Strings Festival can do for you and your children this summer!

Al-Anda

The Belgian - Moroccan singer Laïla Amezian selected poetic and musical gems from Morocco's rich Arabic - Andalusian repertoire.

Together with the versatile BiSS Quartet (Boho International Strings Soloists), she lets you (re)discover this beautiful music in an original setting.

The arrangements - written by pianist Fabian Fiorini - provide an unforgettable, inspiring encounter between two different musical universes.

Let yourself be carried from the gardens of Andalusia to the gates of the Moroccan Kasbahs by scents of orange blossom that delight the soul, and melodies that go straight to the heart.
